Below are the Code of Ethics rules for the Exclusive Pumping Mamas group on Facebook.
Note: Blocking an admin or moderator will result in immediate removal from the group.
It is mandatory for all members to read and agree to the COE. If a member gets blocked or muted, it’s because a post or comment was in violation of these group rules. Members in violation of the COE will not be given a warning before removal from the group.
WE ARE A SUPPORT GROUP:
This means that all content in this group should strive to be supportive and kind. If you disagree with someone, do so politely. How does one define being “impolite”? It’s tricky to pin down, but we know it when we see it, so if you’re not able to moderate your tone then it’s best to just mosey along and say nothing at all. Remember, no one was ever persuaded or enlightened by a snarky comment.
WE ARE EXCLUSIVE PUMPERS:
This group is intended for exclusive pumpers to share information and support. Exclusive pumpers have often tried every kind of infant feeding – nursing, pumping, and formula. Our group is intended to discuss feeding pumped/expressed breastmilk through bottles, with or without supplemental formula. Formula shaming is not allowed in this group. We do not allow nursing photos. While some of our mamas are trying to get back to breast, these photos can be a source of heartache for other members. If you are trying to restore nursing or you’d like to share you nursing success please join our Back to the Breast Mamas group.
WE ARE WOMEN:
Sorry, no significant others (including same-sex partners) and no shared accounts.
*We are trans inclusive, and welcome trans-men who are pumping and need support.
WE ARE BREASTFEEDING:
Nipple pics are common and welcomed for those who feel comfortable sharing. All nipple pics should be in comments. We ask that (kindness is the first secret word) bloody pictures, including bloody milk, be posted in the comments.
WE ARE NOT MEAN OR HOSTILE:
Personal attacks and direct insults will result in immediate removal from the group. If you feel that someone is making personal attacks, tag an admin or report the post. The admin team reserves the right to remove members and/or remove any posts WITHOUT WARNING that we feel are inappropriate or don’t fit with the values of the group. If you think a post goes against the spirit of the group, report it to the admin team. DO NOT jump in and start arguing, insulting, placing blame, or engaging in any other behavior that could be interpreted hurtful or mean spirited.
WE ARE NOT DRAMA QUEENS:
No angry public exit speeches; these will be deleted and the member will be removed from the group and kept from re-entering.
Contact an admin rather than posting public complaints. If you’re upset about something going on in the group, and need to vent about it or are looking for a solution, contact the admin team. Any public posts along the lines of “I’m sorry but, this group….(insert rant about EP Mamas)” or “Not to cause a stir, but (insert highly divisive comment)” will be removed. If a friend of yours gets removed from the group (supermom is the second secret word) and they have questions about it, have them contact an admin via PM. We will not be responding to third party questions.
WE ARE NOT SOLICITORS:
No Multi-level Marketing (MLM) example: It Works, 31, Herbalife, Beach Body, Soylent Green. No blogs, websites, YouTube channels, Instagram accounts, etc. No GoFundMe pages. You will be immediately banned for posting about your personal business.
NO SELLING OR DONATIONS:
The selling of pumps and related products is strictly forbidden. Do not ask or offer to donate anything, including milk, formula and pumps. Please check out EP Trading Post or another b/s/t community for sales. Look for milk donations at Human Milk 4 Human Babies or Eats on Feets or a local milk bank.
NO VACCINE TALK:
No mention of vaccines is permitted. Not even on Off-Topic Friday.
NO LIVE VIDEOS
NO SCREEN SHOTS FROM OTHER GROUPS
VERY COMMON TOPICS:
These topics are asked about frequently, and so the group gets a little burned out with answering them again and again; thusly they tend to get few replies. To get help quick, use the search feature first before asking about:
- How to increase supply
- Medela vs Spectra
- Your pumping rights at work
- Tips for pumping while out of the house or while traveling
- How to wean
- Thrush
- Pumping Schedules
- Dropping pumps
- Clogged ducts
- Traveling with milk
- “How much does your LO eat ____ age?”
- DISCOUNTS on Pumping Gear
NO UNSOLICITED ADVICE:
Be mindful of what the OP is asking and answer the question accordingly. Do not offer advice that is unwanted.
Example: if a mama asks “should I feed my 4 month old her bottle first or her rice cereal?” Do not tell her that she should wait to feed solids until 6m old and she should do BLW. Or that she should skip rice cereal because there’s no nutritional value and it’s just empty calories.
NO OFF-TOPIC POSTS:
All posts must remain on topic. Almost anything related to infant feeding is considered on topic. This includes questions about pumping schedules, supplements, formula, bottles, digestion issues, milk supply, nipple trauma, pump and pump supply recommendations, etc. We encourage you to PM someone on the admin team if you need help determining if your question is on-topic.
OFF-TOPIC FRIDAY (OTF):
On Friday’s we allow members to post about whatever they like (as long as it still fits the spirit of the group and does not involve vaccine talk). OTF ends at midnight EST and all OTF posts will have comments closed. Please join our sister group I am Momm for general mama chatter and any other topics. Off-topic posts made (TGIF is the 3rd secret word) on days other than Friday will be declined and the poster may be removed from the group.
Our admin team works hard to keep this a safe and supportive environment for our 27,000+ mamas and appreciates your compliance with these rules.
