Breastfeeding can be a great experience – but not when you’re constantly getting clogged ducts and mastitis, or if it takes you forever to pump. A lactation massager can help with both of these issues. Here’s a complete LaVie lactation massager review.

What is the LaVie Lactation Massager?
The LaVie Lactation Massager is a tool that allows breastfeeding parents to use vibration on their breasts, which can help with getting milk to flow.
One way that vibration can be especially helpful is with clogged milk ducts.
How does the LaVie Lactation Massager work on clogged ducts?
If you find yourself dealing with a clogged duct, the advice you’ll get to resolve it can be overwhelming – everything from dangle nursing or pumping to using epsom salt in a Haakaa.
As noted above, vibration is another tool that can help many people clear blocked ducts quickly. For example, some people have tried putting an electric toothbrush (or whatever they have around the house that vibrates) on a clogged duct and have found that that helped work it out.
The LaVie massager is shaped in a way that allows you to use both vibration and compression to get plugged ducts out. The vibration helps loosen the milk and the shape makes it easy to push the milk out, while nursing or pumping help pull the milk out.
Additionally, it’s waterproof, so you can use it in the shower (where the warm water may also help get the milk moving and clear the blockage).
Here are some stories I did showing how to use the LaVie lactation massager in a little more detail:
By using the massager whenever you feel a blocked duct, you will hopefully be able to clear it before it becomes mastitis.
Other than clogged ducts, how can the Lactation Massager help breastfeeding parents?
Vibration can also help with letdown, which is when your milk ducts release milk and it starts to flow. Usually, this happens in the first few minutes of nursing or pumping.
If you’re not sure when your milk lets down, this diagram might help you understand what a letdown looks like while pumping:

However, instead of 1-2 minutes, some people experience a very slow letdown, where it can take up to 15 minutes for the milk to start flowing. This can make for very long pumping sessions.
Vibration seems to speed up the letdown process, both for first letdowns and for subsequent letdowns.
It can also help some people empty their breasts faster and more effectively. If it feels like pumping takes you forever, it may be worth trying vibration to see if that speeds up the flow.
Why is the massager shaped the way it is?
The shape of the massager was designed to help with different issues.

The wide side helps to stimulate milk flow and soften the breast, while the narrower scoop edge helps move fluid and express milk.
The tip helps bust clogs and empty ducts faster.
Who is a good candidate for a LaVie Lactation Massager?
The LaVie Lactation Massager is helpful for any breastfeeding parent, both those that are nursing and those that are pumping.
Even if you’ve never had a clogged duct, you never know when it might happen and you want to make sure you resolve it quickly before it becomes mastitis. Nothing is worth that pain!

Comments & Chitchat
I get clogged ducts almost every other day, tried multiple different techniques, flanges, lechithin, you name it! This would be amazing to have, your hands get tired trying to massage out a clog!
Recurring clogged ducts. Also trying to reduce pump sessions per your advice so this would come in handy to avoid clogged ducts!
I would love this I exclusively pump and 8mPP it is taking me forever to empty and I really have to do hands on pumping to prevent clogs! With my first I pumped for two years and wth each nosing month it was harder to empty! This would be a big help
This is such a handy tool!
I suffer from incredibly sore, cracked & bleeding nipples on a daily basis…then come along the HORRIBLE clogged ducts. I’ve tried hot showers, heating pads, massages w/ conditioner…you name it, I’ve tried it! This would hopefully make my experience a lot less painful and I would be so grateful!
I’ve been wanting to try this I only get half of what my lo drinks while i’m at work
This would be great for clogged ducts (especially those that are under the boob and take more time to get out).
I had issues with clogged ducts nursing my daughter years ago. I’m due with a baby boy in 4 weeks and this would relieve a lot of anxiety I already have.
I would love to try this! Exclusive pumper to a precious 7 week old boy. ?
After battling mastitis twice already in 4 months, this would be a life saver. It would also save me from having to use my electric toothbrush to vibrate those clogged ducts out! Vibration is what works best for me. Massaging helps, but doesn’t quite release it completely!
I’d love to win this just in case. I had It on my registry hoping someone would get it for me. I am looking forward to breast feeding my newborn and hoping to enjoy the experience as much as possible.
I got mastitis from a clogged duct in my first pregnancy and it hindered my breast feeding experience. Pregnant with number 2 now and want to have a better experience this go around. I feel like this could really help me!!
Thanks!
Hey Amanda! I saw an article of this product recently and thought it was something I could potentially use for baby #2. My C-Section is scheduled for Thursday (Yep! This Week as in April 26!!!) and on top of not knowing the gender, I would be soooo excited to have the LaVie as a handy tool in my pumping bag! I currently use a rice bag that I warm up to help with clogged breasts and engorgement. The LaVie looks like a perfect and easy alternative! Thanks for reading!!!
I would love one just in case I get a clogged duct! I’m a first time mom and have already had a breast infection, went to urgent care and was diagnosed with thrush within the first two weeks of my baby coming into this world. I would hate to have anything else happen!
I would love to win! I have been getting clogged ducts. I have one now ? it’s so painful! Thanks for the opportunity to win!
Hoping for overall letdown and flow improvement.
I pump at work, and would love to be about to shorten my pump time by having let-downs faster!
I would love this would keep me breast feeding longer!
I would love to win this! I am a nurse and work 12 hour shifts. I sometimes get too busy at work to pump on time (even though I desperately need to) which leads to clogged ducts, which I get easily, and have had mastitis twice. It would be great to be able to get the clog out and not worry so much about getting mastitis again! Thanks for the opportunity to win this.
I would love to have a LaVie Massager to help fully empty. I never feel like I’ve completely emptied after pumping!
I get clogs several times a week. I can’t ever leave the house, wear a bra, pump, cuddle my toddlers, sleep comforrably or live a normal life. It’s effecting my entire family not just me and we sound a small fortune on lecithin just to keep it even slightly under control. 🙁 we also get a lot of milk blisters and of course mastitis.
I got mastitis when my twins were 3months old. Now I constantly fight clogged ducts and reduced supply due to them. Would love one to help when I get a clogged duct!
I would love it for recurrent clogged ducts that can be so stubborn to get rid Of!
Would love it too get rid of my clogged ducts! They are so painful!
I get clogged ducts AND I also get milk blebs! Super painful.
First time momma here! So so afraid of clogged ducts (because I did not know that was a thing 8 months ago)! But I’ve read some great reviews of this massager! Would love to win one and have one less thing to stress out about!
This is a great product! I have oversupply, and I get a clog once every few days. So far this time around I’ve avoided mastitis, but I’m only 3 months in with this baby. I think the massager will save me tons of time doing painful hand massaging to break up inevitable clogs. Hope I’m selected so I can try it out & share experience with all my other breastfeeding pals!
I would love this for clogged ducts and helping stimulate more milk!
I would love to win one of these because I have a hard time having my baby latch and this should help with the flow.
Constant clogs 🙁 I try to do a hand massage before each pump but it is not as effective
I have gone through mastitis once already and have a sore breast as I type. As an exclusive pumper, I would love this!
I got so many clogged ducts with my last 2 kids and it was so painful trying to work them out!! Would be awesome to have something to help this 3rd pumping journey!
This would be perfect for me! I’m a full time student with a full time job and a mom to a three month old and almost four year old! I’m an exclusive pumper and my letdown requires me to pump for 30 minutes being done sooner would help a ton.
I’m an exclusive pumper and getting clogged ducts is a common occurrence, as well as really hard to resolve. This product sounds amazing and I would definitely use it every day.
No clog yet, but I’d like to be prepared. Also, going back to work soon (teacher) and would love a tool to help make the pumping session go quicker as my break times will be tricky.
I had my first really bad clog last week and I was wishing that I had a tool like this.
Since I’ve had to return my pump that my insurance gave me and use the one that WIC has given me, it doesn’t fully empty my breast unless I massage vigorously! This could definitely help my clogged ducts that I can’t seem to always get with heat and massage!
To resolve the last clogged duct, I had to have an ultrasound twice a week for several weeks to fully resolve. This would help me get the clog out sooner so that doesn’t happen again!
I’ve been wanting one for the longest time!
Would love to win this especially if it helps speed up milk flow and reduces painful letdown I could really use both in my life lol
I am struggling with letdown and it takes 20 min for first letdown.i would love to try this
I would love to win this to help with clogs and get more milk for my preemie baby.
My sister struggles with clogs and could really use this. I’d like to gift it to her.
My baby boy is a month old, and I’ve already dealt with mastitis. I was told because of my oversupply, I’m going to be prone to clogged ducts. But because I’m trying to donate as well, I don’t want to correct it.
I would love to make it 1 year pumping since this will be my last time pumping!
I would love this! I get occasional clogs despite thorough manual massage and sunflower lecithin.
Hi! I would love to win one of these bad boys. I ALWAYS get clogged ducts and my pump is not the best. I can’t afford a new one so I end up pumping for over an hour every two-three hours. I am always in pain and hoping this helps!!! Pretty please !!
This looks amazing!!
I can’t seem to get all the milk out in a great amount of time which means I’m pumping forever to avoid terrifying clogs.
I get clogged ducts multiple times a week, despite pumping and constant massage. And my babe is 10 weeks so I have a long road ahead. This product could be a game changer for me!
I get clogged ducts constantly! This would be awesome!
