Different Types of Pumping Bras
The two main kinds of hands-free pumping bras are corset-style and integrated.
Corset-style
Corset-style pumping bras are a separate accessory that you wear around your torso, with holes positioned at the nipples to hold up your breast shields.
This type of hands-free pumping bra might make the most sense if you already have a lot of nursing bras, as you’d need to buy multiple bras so that you’d always have one to use while the others are in the wash.
Integrated pumping bra
Integrated pumping bras work similarly in how they hold up your flanges, but because these are also a nursing bra, they can be worn all day long, rather than just when you pump.
Generally there are two pieces of fabric on your chest – one that has the holes for your nipples, and one that covers your nipples when you’re not pumping or nursing.
Having an integrated nursing and pumping bra can make things simpler in that you don’t need to carry around an extra accessory. It can also make doing breast compressions easier, because your breasts aren’t “pushed in” to hold up the pumping bra.

1. Larken X
The Larken X is one of my favorite all day pumping bras because it’s so simple – it’s just two panels of fabric that sit on top of each other.
To make it a pumping bra, you pull one panel up and the other down, and then position your breast shield. Then you do the opposite on the other side.
You can get 10% off the Larken X with the code EPUMP.
The fabric is smooth, stretchy, and really high quality.
Pros of the Larken X
- The design is simple but really effective, and it’s easy to use after you get the hang of it
- It’s extremely comfortable, so much so that you can sleep in it
- It’s lightweight, and a great option for warmer temperatures
- Because there are no holes for your nipples, you don’t have to worry about your nipples being in the exact right place to fit the bra
Cons of the Larken X
- It might not be the best choice for women with large breasts
- It’s not ideal for nursing on one side and pumping on the other
You can see more of the Larken X in the below stories:
You can read more on the Larken X here, or you can buy it here with the code EPUMP.
2. Kindred Bravely Sublime
The Kindred Bravely Sublime is an integrated nursing and pumping bra that has two separate panels on each side. To pump, you just take the top panel down and position your flanges; to nurse, you take both panels down.
(Bonus – use code EPUMP15 at checkout for 15% off!)
It’s a good option for either double pumping and single pumping.
Pros of the Sublime
- The two panel design makes it easy to pump on one side and nurse on the other
- It’s a great option for women with larger breasts, as it comes in special “busty” sizes
- It’s easy to do breast compressions
Cons of the Sublime
- It’s a bit heavy and is a lot of fabric and layers, which may not be ideal in warmer weather, though it also comes in a T-shirt version
You can see the Sublime in the below stories:

3. Davin & Adley Riley
The Davin & Adley Riley is evidence that pumping bras can actually be really cute!
Pros of the Riley
- Comfortable while also being functional and a really cute bra
- Easy to do breast compressions with it
- You can nurse on one side and pump on the other, or pump just on one side easily
Cons of the Riley
- It’s at a higher price point than some of the other options
You can get 10% off Davin & Adley breast pads and bralettes with the code EPUMP!
4. Dairy Fairy Pippa
The Dairy Fairy Pippa has a single panel with holes that hold up your breast shields, along with a hook and latch to take the entire panel down for nursing. The holes are hidden behind a small flap until you’re ready to use them.
You can get 10% off the Dairy Fairy Pippa with the code EPUMP10.
Like the Riley, the Pippa also proves that nursing bras do not need to sacrifice style and be all about function! It’s a beautiful, lacy, and feminine bra.
Pros of the Pippa
- It’s probably the cutest nursing bra I’ve ever used – it doesn’t really look like a nursing bra, but it is one and you can pump with it
- You can single pump or nurse on one side and pump on the other
- It’s lightly padded (just the right amount of padding)
Cons of the Pippa
- It may be challenging to fit some larger breast shields through the front of the bra (but you can put the tunnel of the flange through the back instead)
You can see more of the Dairy Fairy Pippa in the below stories:
5. Davin and Adley Amelia
The Davin & Adley Amelia is a cute cropped cami option that is perfect for wearing all day.
You can get 10% off Davin & Adley breast pads and bralettes with the code EPUMP!
Pros of the Amelia
- It works well for not only nursing and pumping with traditional flanges, but also for wearable pumps and milk catchers
- You can also nurse on one side and pump on the other, or single pump
- It has no wires and no clips
- Like the Dairy Fairy above, it’s really cute and has beautiful lace detail on the back
Cons of the Amelia
- If you prefer a nursing bra with some padding, this might not be the best option because there isn’t any
You can see more of the Davin & Adley Amelia in the below stories:
6. Bodily
The Bodily Do Anything is a great lightweight nursing and pumping bra.
Pros of the Bodily
- The material feels silky and comfortable; it’s also much lighter than the Sublime
- The setup makes it easy to pump on one side and nurse on the other, or single pump
- Positioning breast shields and doing breast compressions is easy
Cons of the Bodily
- There isn’t much padding, so you may need to wear breast pads with it depending on your shirt, nipples, and comfort level

Thank you for all the support, you don’t know what a lifeline it’s been for me. Dealing with a hospitalized baby was hard enough, the pumping, I didn’t think I’ll pull through, I thought I would need from the milk bank but thank god I found you, and oh how helpful it has been all the tips and tricks, thank you so much. Now for my question any underwire pumping bra recommendations? I can’t seem to find any pumping bras with support for big breast .
Amanda Glenn, CLC says
Hi Henya! Thank you soooo much! I do not know of any underwire pumping bras. The best suggestion I have is the Kindred Bravely busty sizes. Please let me know if you find anything better though, I would love to be able to recommend it to others!

HI Amanda, Have you seen the ‘pumpkin’ bra from Cake Maternity? It’s a t-shirt pumping bra without any lumpy bumps or fiddly layers. It also fits up to GG cup. Hands down (or should I say handsfree) my favourite. So simple and easy to use and discreet too.

Hi, do you recommend the larken x bra for the pumpables liquid kits? I know the Amelia 2.0 is good for that, but I need something for when I go back to work and don’t want my nipples sticking out.
Amanda Glenn, CLC says
Hi! Yes, this will work with the Larken, but you definitely need breast pads with it.
Emmy says
Hi – I like the Pippa and going to order one, but did you also try the Noa 2.0? It looks similar and wondering if you recommend that one as well? Thanks!
Amanda Glenn, CLC says
Hi Emmy! I haven’t tried that one, I’m sorry. I have tried the Rose 2.0 and like that one but can’t comment on the Noa! 🙂
