Three Awesome Things Every Breastfeeding Mother Should Have

Are you are a new mom, or do you have a friend who is expecting a baby? Breastfeeding can be a little challenging in the beginning, but there are some great products that can make it easier. Here are three awesome things that every breastfeeding mother should have!

Earth Mama Organics

1. Booby Tubes

Both hot and cold compresses can be soothing for breastfeeding moms at different times in their breastfeeding journeys.

Booby Tubes

Warm Compresses

Because heat encourages milk flow, it can be helpful when you’re struggling with a few different issues. Some of these include:

  • You have a clogged duct that you’re trying to work out.
  • You’re struggling to get letdowns or find that pumping takes too long.
  • You have pain related to mastitis.

So what’s the best way to use heat while breastfeeding?

You can use a warm washcloth, but that’s not super convenient when you’re at work. Plus, you might get your clothes wet.

This is where Booby Tubes can be helpful! Booby Tubes are breast packs that have an organic cotton shell, and are filled with flax seeds. When you need a warm compress, you can just stick them in the microwave for 20-40 seconds. It’s quick, no mess, and you can reuse it as many times as you need to.

Cold Compresses

Cold compresses can also be soothing for breastfeeding moms, particularly when:

  • You’re suffering from engorgement in the early days of breastfeeding.
  • You have decided to stop breastfeeding and wean.

To use Booby Tubes as a cold compress, you just stick it in the freezer instead of the microwave. It’s softer and more comfortable that a normal ice pack.

One of the great things about Booby Tubes is that you can continue to use them after you wean. They can work as a warm compresses for period cramps, an ice pack for your child, and more!

I love that Booby Tubes are reusable and so versatile. They are a great thing for a new mom to have on hand when she needs them!

2. Nipple Butter

Many breastfeeding moms struggle with sore nipples, especially in the early days with a newborn.

Earth Mama Organic Nipple Butter is a great option for soothing nipples!

Earth Mama Organics Nipple Butter

It contains organic olive fruit oil, ethically sourced organic beeswax, organic cocoa seed butter, organic shea butter, organic mango seed butter, and organic calendula flower extract. Evidence-based research by the German Commission E supports calendula’s ability to relieve cracked nipples in breastfeeding women.

Earth Mama Organics Nipple Butter has no petroleum and is lanolin-free.

This nipple cream is safe for baby (no need to wash off), and very thick and protective. You can also put it on your breast pump flanges if that makes pumping more comfortable for you.

3. Milkmaid Tea

Some women have success with drinking nursing teas to boost their milk supply.

Earth Mama Organic Milkmaid Tea

If you want to give this a try, Organic Milkmaid Tea is a great option! It contains several herbs traditionally used to increase milk supply, including fenugreek, milk thistle, fennel, raspberry leaf and nettle.

Don’t particularly like the taste of tea? You can mix it with Gatorade or another similar drink to make “Lactation Lemonade“! Or you can make one of Earth Mama Organic’s recipes – they have a great French Vanilla Chai recipe for Milkmaid Tea.
